Oprah Weighs In on Whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Should Attend King Charles’s Coronation

As King Charless III’s coronation nears, one big question remains on everyone’s mind: Will Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry attend?

The latest to weigh in on their attendance is Oprah Winfrey, a friend of the Sussex’s. She appeared on CBS Mornings this week to talk about the topic with her pal Gayle King.

“It’s been reported that Harry and Meghan have received an invitation to the coronation,” King told Winfrey. “Do you think they should go? Do you think they should not go? Is it something you’d like to comment on?”

Winfrey responded, “I think they should do what they feel is best for them and for their family. That’s what I think. That’s what the bottom line—it comes down to: What do you feel like is the best thing for you?”

Even if Winfrey does know what Meghan and Harry are thinking, regarding whether or not they’ll go, she didn’t say. “They haven’t asked me my opinion,” she added.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan confirmed to BAZAAR.com that the couple “recently received” email correspondence from the monarch’s Buckingham Palace household regarding the May event.

Added their representative, “An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

No timeline has been given for a decision, or if Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will join their parents in the United Kingdom for the coronation. King Charles’s coronation falls on Archie’s birthday.

Earlier this year, Harry told ITV’s Tom Bradby, “There’s a lot that can happen between now and [the coronation]. But, the door is always open. The ball is in their court.” He continued, “There’s a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.”
